Virtuous living while practicing slavery?
Why do you think society of the 17th/18th century time was able to espouse virtuous living while practicing slavery? How was it that the two could co-exist? Do we see instances in society today where we reinforce certain virtues or belief systems but don't "practice what we preach?"
