Is faith/belief in God truly that important in the determination of whether one enters Paradise?

My question is similar. I mean I dont think it should be that way. I mean G-d gave us life for a reason so shouldnt we be focusing more on that and making our world better. I mean, are Buddists going to hell only because they dont believe in G-d, because in all honesty they are a very peaceful and lifeloving people I would be quite disturbed if that were true
